Journeying Across The Himalayas brings together travellers and communities through installations, exhibitions and experiences across visual and performing arts (music, dance and theatre), culinary journeys, conversations, retail and much more—offering immersive ways to engage with the region’s natural, tangible and intangible heritage, art and culture.
A one-of-its-kind multidisciplinary festival, celebrating stories of and from the Himalayas.
Edition 2026
The Himalayas have always been shaped by movement – geological, ecological and human. Routes change, water flows shift, materials behave unpredictably and these transformations reshape how people move, work, build, and sustain livelihoods. Our encounter with this shifting terrain, changes us as well. As we alter it, so it alters us.
The theme for Journeying Across The Himalayas 2026 – ‘Becoming’ – is forward-looking; filled with potential for what is to come. Becoming implies transformation, it underlines the shifts that one must undergo in order to come to, anchoring the constant state of change and movement that the Himalayas undergo with respect to climate, terrain, migration and innovation in collective action, partnership, and shared responsibility.
A filmmaker's gaze shifts after days spent with herders. A designer's work is reoriented by a craftsperson's lived experience. A researcher's questions are reshaped by altitude, weather, and conversation. The rider finds something fundamental awakened through the winding road and its encounters. Visitors don't leave unchanged – altered by proximity to communities and their heritage, they in turn alter what the festival becomes: a site for mutual transformation.
Becoming is that transformation celebrated. Join us and imagine what we can become together.
